It was an exciting day on November 15th as Interjet launched its twice weekly service from Las Vegas Nevada to Mexico City’s Toluca Airport. The new service operates on Thursdays and Sundays, departing from McCarran International Airport at 11:40 pm, arriving at 5:10 am the next morning in Mexico City. The flights fly from Mexico City’s Toluca Airport to Las Vegas at 7:50 pm, arriving at 9:45 am. Interjet removed 30 seats to make a 150 seat Airbus A320 to give maximum comfort and excellent quality service to the passengers.

Oscar Goodman, along with a band and his famous Showgirls were on hand to greet the VIP’s and dignitaries to the VIP media event. The food was delicious and so were the margaritas which were served by an excellent staff of waiters and waitress’s.

Miguel Aleman, President of Interjet spoke to everyone about the service features and added perks to travelers, such as a 20% discount year round for seniors, in-flight entertainment programs, take-off/landing cameras and much more.

A Magical Tour of Hammargren World

Dr. Lonnie Hammargren once again opened up his home to the public in honor of Nevada Day on November 3rd and 4th at 4318 Ridgecrest Drive, Las Vegas. It was the 17th annual celebration highlighting his vast collection of memorabilia that he has collected over the years. www.nevadadays.org

Lonnie moved to his home in 1971 and soon after added a second floor planetarium and then continued to expand adding bridges, tunnels and building up to three levels. He wanted to live within a few minutes from the hospital where he took care of his patients.

Dr. Hammargren was a noted neurosurgeon and served as Lt. Governor of Nevada 1995-1999.

Dr. Lonnie Hammargren

Dr. Hammargren started at the age of five collecting butterflies and his collecting has grown all these years into his own fantasy house. Home is where the heart is and you can see his heart in his fabulous collection. He fulfills his fantasies and it shows in the displays of selected items.

He performs with a local polka band the Dummkopfs on Sundays at the Skyline Casino in Henderson. The band entertained the crowds at the open house.

I felt like I was reliving Willie Wonka days as I wandered through out the house and now I’m wondering if I saw everything. We went in and out of wings, up and down staircases and rooms and I was fascinated with everything.

It was a great experience to see the Nevada history in all the memorabilia and I am definitely going to visit the house again next year. Dr. Hammargren is still collecting items and his latest additions are from Phantom of the Opera which morphs into Phantom of Paradise. One of his newest pieces is the stuffed turkey on his dining room table.

Experience a Haunted Evening in the Asylum

Photos by Nikki Artale

It was a frightening night wandering through the Haunted House Asylum at the Freemont St. Experience a few weeks ago. I had been in many haunted houses before, but this house was really very dark and scary.

It was a scream fest from the moment we entered the house and encountered one ghoul after another. I have good eyesight but I couldn’t see anything as I slowly moved forward through the halls, until some lights flashed on and I saw the zombies.

Somehow I found myself in front of my group of three people and I don’t know how I got to be first, they must have pushed me in front of them, and I had no one to hold on to.

The Oktober Fright Fest tour was a chance to get your scream on in the Haunted House Asylum and let go of any fears you might have about ghosts, ghouls and zombies.
