We started out the night at a pre-show reception in a theme bar, the Bourbon Room for cocktails and appetizers before going to the Rock of Ages Theater at The Venetian. There was over one hour of entertainment by the Bourbon Room Girls and Marvelless Mark that set the pace for the rock and roll fun for the entire evening. www.RockofAgesVegas.com

Rock of Ages is the biggest and newest party on the strip, featuring the great rock songs of the 80’s, including “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, “I Wanna Know What Love Is”, “Don’t Stop Believing”, “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and many more heavy metal smash hits.

The show was fast paced and the cast was energetic, talented and they had the audience rocking and dancing in their seats. It tells the story of Sherrie, played by Carrie St. Louis and Drew, played by Justin Mortelliti who come to L.A. to make their dreams come true and make it big, seeking fame and fortune on the sunset strip in 1987.

The performers belted out the songs and danced their hearts out and the audience responded with LED flashlights that magically lit the theater at different times when they sang certain ballads. At times it looked like a fairy land.

Rock of Ages brought us back to re-live our rock and roll days of fun and wonderful memories of our youth. We automatically stood up at the finale and clapped and cheered and wanted more. It made the heart feel good again. www.RockofAgesVegas.com

Esteban’s Music of Love is from His Heart

Photos by Nikki Artale

Esteban is a classical trained guitarist who plays the music of love from his heart. The one and only grand master of the guitar, Maestro Andres Segovia was Esteban’s teacher for five years in Spain. It was from Segovia that Esteban learned to play and by using his fingertips and nails he brings magic to the haunting sounds of flamenco, classical and rock. www.estebanmusic.com

Teresa Joy and Esteban

Esteban comes on stage dressed in black with a black bolero hat, black boots and dark shaded sun glasses that he wears because of his sensitive eyes, due to a car accident years ago. Hearts open up and everyone listens to his music that touches not only the heart but the soul as well. Esteban is soft spoken, charming and handsome and keeps everyone mesmerized with his heartfelt guitar playing.         http://youtu.be/XNvxv4bx3Xo

Accompanying him on stage is Teresa Joy, an accomplished violinist who compliments Esteban perfectly. Teresa Joy is a beautiful young lady and you can see and feel the love they have for each other. I didn’t have a father growing up and if I could choose one I would choose Esteban for his warm and loving energy.

To the joy of the packed house in the Shimmer Room at the LVH (formerly Las Vegas Hilton Hotel) Esteban played a medley of Elvis Presley songs, including “Love Me Tender” and a 4,000 year old journey of mankind’s first written music.         http://youtu.be/3YU8FCsAi-k

Esteban and Teresa Joy can be seen at the LVH in the Shimmer Room on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:30 pm and on select Saturdays. After a standing ovation they both took the time to meet all their fans outside the showroom to take pictures and sign their CD’s
Come and see the show and open your hearts so you can receive Esteban and Teresa Joy giving their hearts to you and feel the love that is so present in the Shimmer Room.

Mannheim Steamroller, Opportunity Village Elvi and Stoney’s Rockin Country Were Highlights of The Holidays.

Mannheim Steamroller

Mannhem Steamroller by Grammy Award winning Composer Chip Davis is a spectacular Christmas Show that plays in over 90 cities during the Christmas holiday, entertaining and thrilling millions of people. This year we saw the show at The Palazzo in Las Vegas, Nevada and were thrilled with the acrobats, aerialists and the flying angels.

It was a night to remember as we listened to the 20 piece orchestra and a nine piece string section playing many favorite Christmas classics. Gymnastic dances were performed on the ground and in the air as beautiful video scenes were shown on a back screen.

It was a night to remember, to sit back and relax and listen to the beautiful music. My favorite part of the show was when it started snowing in the theater as “White Christmas” was being played.

For those who missed seeing the show, make it a point to go see it next Christmas.

Opportunity Village Elvi Dance Troupe with Jesse Garon

On January 8th Opportunity Village Engelstad Campus celebrated Elvis Presley’s birthday with a special performance by the Elvi dance troupe and Jesse Garon, who is a tribute artist to Elvis Presley. Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 and he would have been 78 years old.

The Opportunity Village Roaring Thunder percussion team opened the show and Elvis came on stage with the Elvi dance troupe dancing and singing back up to Jesse Garon.

The auditorium was filled with Elvis enthusiasts that were very excited to see the show and are familiar with Elvis because they are the official manufacturers of Elvis’ Scarves.

Following the show everyone went outside to see the pink Cadillac and cut the birthday cake in Elvis’s honor. The king still lives on in our hearts.

Scott Haggard Has Arrived in Las Vegas
Scott and Vicki Haggard

Scott Haggard is now a resident of Las Vegas and in the process of putting a band together to form a new country show. Scott is the son of the great country music legend Merle Haggard and is following in his fathers footsteps and doing it on his own. Scott is an outstanding talent and he conveys his emotions in his songs. He loves performing and is carrying on the family tradition on his journey of making great country music.  www.reverbnation.com/scotthaggard

Music has always been in Scott’s blood and about seven years ago he decided to become serious about it. Haggard writes his own music and just completed writing “Do You Love Me” and “Living in The Shadow of Merle” which is debuted in his new CD. Scott is being represented by Rhonda Whitlow of Country Girl Productions and can be contacted at rhonda@countrygirlproductions.com for bookings.

I met Scott Haggard at the Media Party for the Esteban Concert at LVH and was introduced to him by Roy “Willie” Hammock, known as a Willie Nelson impersonator who performs with the “Country Superstars”. Roy Hammock won the 2010 Willie Nelson Lookalike contest and in my opinion if he enters the contest every year he will win because he is the spitting image of Willie Nelson. He looks like him, walks like him and talks and sings like him. Roy plays all over the country and he is always a big hit here in Las Vegas. I love Willie Nelson and I love Roy Hammock.

Also at the Media party was Mickey Silver, the famous “Hands of Las Vegas” who is known as having the fastest hands in the world. Everyone is fascinated when they see Mickey Silver perform his sleight of hand magic. For bookings and private parties email micmsilver@aol.com
