Rock N Roll 2 Soul

It was a night of rock n roll at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The real Cornell Gunter’s Coasters filled the room with their fabulous songs. Everyone was on their feet, clapping and singing along with Lionel “Z” Pope, Charlie Duncan and Ron Stevenson.
The Coasters looked elegant in their purple striped suits and they put their heart and soul into each song. As I looked around the room, I saw that mostly everyone in the room was singing along with them. It brought back so many memories of the 1960’s, especially when they sang Charley Brown.

Opening the show was Mary Williams and The Sensations, Gwyn Forstyhe and Charlotte Spencer singing songs in tribute to The Supremes, The Shirelles and The Vandellas. Mary’s passion was there as she belted out the songs.

A Rock N Roll show would not be complete without an Elvis tribute and singing tribute to his songs was Jonathan Von Brana who did a pretty good impersonation. At 6’ 8” tall Jonathan takes command of the stage and powerfully belts out the songs. It is always exciting to see Elvis in the house.

We have to give credit to the Producer, Tom Biscardi for this great show. After the show all the performers met everyone outside the showroom for pictures and autographs and they were all so gracious.

Ed Sanders
Extreme Makeover Home Edition
Millions of people watch ABC TV Reality Show, Extreme Makeover Home Edition every week and one of the reasons they watch is to see the handsome Ed Sanders. Ed joined the show in Season Two after auditioning for the new designer’s position. Helping him get his job done in each episode are 65 crew members and thousands of volunteers. The show is a hit and it receives over 3,000 letters a month.
Ed Sander’s father credits himself for Ed’s job in the show because he encouraged him to go to a trade school where he learned the art of sculpturing, carving and furniture building. He also took drama classes and started acting when he was 16 years old. He was a natural when he auditioned and it is no wonder why he got the job. Another natural is Ty Pennington who is also a favorite on the show.
They are both on the road nine months a year and film two seasons a year. Everything is donated and Ed said that without the vender’s donations, they wouldn’t have a show. Sears donates $500,000 in clothing and necessities. Ed said that they actually build a 3,000 sq. ft house in 4 ½ days. It takes six hours to frame and they work 24 hours a day. The entire process takes four weeks from the time they pull building permits to delivery of the keys to the home. http://www.extrememakeoverhomeedition.com/

Ed Sanders, who is originally from Wimbledon, London, now lives in LA County with his wife Gioia and has 4 children, a son Max 7, years old, triplet girls, Scarlette, Lucia and Azure 2 ½ years old.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ed Sanders at the World Market in Las Vegas, in the Simmons Mattress suite when he was visiting the showroom. Simmons had on display the new super conforpedic high end Loft mattresses that they put into all the extreme makeover homes. It was only natural that I asked Ed to lie down on the bed to show how comfortable it was.
I asked Ed how they select the families that they are building a home for and he said they look for a story that tugs the heart. The most touching story that he wanted to share was of Lori Piestewa who was the first woman casualty in the Iraq war. Lori was also the first Native American who lost her life in combat. Jessica Lynch was with Lori the day she was killed. In May 2005 Extreme makeover went to the reservation in Tuba City Arizona and built her family a 4500 sq. ft home.

The show is planning to visit some of the families from past shows to see how their lives have changed. All of America would love to see these reunion shows. Extreme Makeover is doing a great job and we look forward to seeing many more years of this fabulous show and Ed Sanders and Ty Pennington.

Queen of Modern Day Burlesque
Dita Von Teese

Dita Von Teese is the biggest name in burlesque since Gypsy Rose Lee and she is known for her classic vintage glamour. Opening night on March 31, 2010 welcomed Dita to the MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris. Ditas didn’t disappoint as she stepped onto the red carpet looking beautiful and classic in a stunning red gown. http://www.dita.net/

Dita is the face of Cointreau advertisements, such as Contreau Noir and Contreau Margarita. We were served samples of the wine at the reception after the red carpet and they were delicious.

Dita has brought back the glamour of old Hollywood with her fascinating 1900’s looks.
Thousands of sparkling, glittering Swarovski crystals adorn her gowns that are just simply gorgeous. She has been named on many best dressed lists and appeared in many fashion shows.

The beautiful Crazy Horse dancers shared the stage with Dita in several numbers and they were outstanding. She said she was excited to be reconnecting with the dancers. The 10 dancers opened the show as robot like horse guards who had the steps perfected and timed masterfully. They looked identical with their height, body shapes, small breasts, rounded buttocks, wigs, high heels and red lipstick. The stage is small and the ceilings low and they almost didn’t look real in that setting. But nude and real they were.
Dita did an old fashioned strip with a lot of tease. Her jet black hair and her white porcelain skin and red lipstick were alluring and mesmerizing. She is the ultimate pin up girl. A lot of this credit goes to the new Directeur Artisque from Paris, Ali Mahdavi who is now part of the Crazy Horse Show. He was such a delight to meet after the show and he too looked like an icon.
Mid way through the show we were entertained by Michael Jackson and his monkey, as small people puppets, and they were very entertaining and funny. The show ended with Dita in a bath tub and to the joy and delight of everyone, she showered her gorgeous hour glass shaped body.
