Photos by Nikki Artale

The first annual UNLVino BAR-b-que was held on April 21 at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, headlined by Celebrity Chefs Scott Conant of Scarpetta, Angelo Sosa from Poppy Den and Gustav Mauler of Spiedini. The chefs showcased their fabulous gourmet dishes from their signature restaurants.

Also participating were other well-known chefs from Charlie Palmer Steak (Four Season Hotel), Diego (MGM Grand), and Todd English P.U.B. (The Shops at Crystals) One of my favorite dishes were the scallops from Todd English which brought me back for seconds.
It was an extraordinary event with farm fresh to table foods that were provided by local farmers and made and served with love by the best chefs in Las Vegas.
Master Mixologist Francesco Lafranconi of Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada introduced craft cocktails that were featured in three bars throughout the event and also conducted demonstrations on the main stage.
MG M Grand President and COO Scott Sibella was the guest of honor at this 39th annual UNLVino affair and was presented with the Dom Perignon Award of Excellence. Scott was recognized for his excellence and leadership in his 25 years in the industry.
This year’s theme was “Fall in Love Again” and we surely did fall in love with the food and spirits that flowed endlessly for three hours, causing us to not only fall in love, but to stay in love. This event rounded up the four days of UNLVino who has raised millions of dollars for scholarships to aid UNLV students all over the world.

Designer Jessica Galindo created one of her fabulous paintings that was raffled off to one lucky participant. Jessica is a fashion and fine art lovechild.

Neon Museum Exhibits Iconic Las Vegas Signs in the Neon Boneyard

Photos by Nikki Artale

The Neon Boneyard sits on two acres of land and has a visitor’s center which was once the lobby of the La Concha Motel. The museum was founded in 1996 and is a non-profit organization and promotes the collection of old signs from casinos and motels from the past.
Moulin Rouge Sign

The collection has over 150 signs from casinos, motels and businesses and has been a part of the Las Vegas history starting from the 1930s. Many of the signs bring back memories to the old timers who are so familiar with Las Vegas.

Then there are the artistic signs that I am not familiar with. There are eight restored signs downtown on Freemont Street and everyone gets to enjoy them 24 hours a day. All the signs have been donated.

One hour guided tours are from Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until sunset and reservations are recommended. The museum is located at 770 Las Vegas Blvd. in Las Vegas. Amy was our tour guide and she did an excellent job in describing the history of all the signs and filling us in on the important facts and stories.

My favorite sculpture was the standing man and the pirate head from Treasure Island Casino. It is a very interesting tour and one kind of feels sad looking at the remains in the boneyard.
The La Concha Visitors Center is available for parties, special events and wedding receptions. For more information call 702 387-6366

Credit goes to Lacey Schwimmer, who choreographed the dances and who used her expertise from Dancing with the Stars, where she had been featured for a few seasons. She brings to life the days of flaming red lipstick and vintage clothing. Pin Up is a fast paced review with an outstanding cast that is sure to get you clapping and smiling.

Boss Lady is awakening the Power in Women

There are dynamic business advisors, or Angels as Kimberly Miles the Boss Lady calls them, who are here in Las Vegas to inspire and mentor women in all walks of life. The Angel entrepreneurs are very successful business women and they are part of a new T.V. Reality show called Boss Lady, which will be airing this fall. I first met Kimberly Miles at an event at the Palazzo in Las Vegas and from the moment I met her I knew that she was something special. Not only is she beautiful, she is powerful and mesmerizing and adding to her power is her husband G. Eric Miles.

Boss Lady will be an exciting new Reality show and Kimberly and G are making appearances to promote the show. Last week I hosted Mike Kuban’s Radio show at All Talk Radio and it was a great hour interview with Kimberly and G. as they opened their hearts to us.

Mike Kurban is host of Celebrity Stars and has written and produced 840 comedies and wants to make it into the Guinness World Records with the most comedies recorded.

Our day ended at Kimberly’s office, the Payroll Company, where she showed me her wall of awards and plaques and where she can be found working and bringing love and joy to everyone who crosses her path.
