San Gennaro Feast Brings Little Italy to Las Vegas

Photos by Nikki Artale
The San Gennaro Feast took place on Sept. 9-14, 2014 at the Grand Canyon Shopping Center to celebrate its 35th Annual Feast. It featured 80 Amusement rides, over 70 food booths that included pasta, calamari, calzones, clams, pizza, stuffed artichokes, Italian sausage, corn on the cob and lots more that I can’t remember to list. We especially loved the sausage, peppers and onions from Anthony’s World Famous Italian Sausage, who always feeds us, the media on Media night.

Rows and rows of food stands displayed the funnel cakes and all the traditional Italian foods and international cuisine amid the beer garden.

The entertainment host and coordinator Tony Sacca put together the entertainment for the six day event that featured great bands and local headliners of some of the Las Vegas Shows. Once again Tony Sacca headlined his own show with the Saccattes and also introduced his new book “Tony Sacca Las Vegas Ambassador of Entertainment”, which was written by Arlene Krieger. Tony has been touring the U.S. promoting his book.

An old time favorite every year is Denise Clemente who also took the opportunity to introduce two of her talented students that she works with. Denise performed some of her favorite songs and the one that touched my heart the most was the song “Mama” made famous by Connie Francis years ago.

Outstanding performances on opening night were “Shades of Sinatra” featuring Carmine Mandia, Ryan Baker, Lisa Smith and Larry Liso.  The Bee Gees  Gold, featuring John Acosta (Barry) Lead singer, Jeff Celentano (Maurice) on keyboard and Daryll Borges (Robin) as the Bee Gee Brothers Gibb.

A longtime favorite at the San Gennaro Feast is Millie Doby Caruso, who always entertains the crowd at the beginning of the scheduled show entertainment.

I loved seeing Rick Bilby with his well-trained adorable monkey “Mikey” who was a crowd favorite and is a white faced capuchin monkey who originates from Costa Rica. They are known for their cute baby face. If you ever wanted to have a monkey as a pet, this would be the one to get.

Anthony Palmisano –President promotes the San Gennaro Feast and keeps the tradition alive and is the third generation in his family to promote the event. On Sunday evening there was a fireworks show at 9:00pm to the joy and thrill of all the attendees. See you at the newt San Gennero Feast.

Evil Dead the Musical is a Bloody Killer Show

Photos by Nikki Artale
The Evil Dead Musical 4D is a story about five college students who go to a cabin in the woods and find a Book of the Dead and upon reading the book an evil force is unleashed which turns them into demons. Ash is the hero of the day as he fights the zombies with a chainsaw and a rifle.

Director Sirc Michaels has put together a blood splattering smashing killer show with great zombie choreography and great songs with funny lyrics like “What the F$$k was that”? There is a lot of blood on stage and in the front rows, the splatter zone, where everyone is sprayed with blood from one of the zombies intestines.

Evil Dead Musical is different, unique and it was a lot of fun experiencing this crazy production. I got an invitation to review the show and was put in the VIP section in the fourth row. I really wanted to sit in the splatter zone so I could get the full experience but after seeing all the blood that was squirted on the front rows I was very happy that I wasn’t seated there.  The splatter zone didn’t mind at all, they loved it.

The cast played their roles brilliantly and they had a great time being zombies. They are very talented and they definitely will entertain you with the singing, dancing and hilarious dialogue. It was a fun evening and I loved the show.

The 2 Kings Are Back in Town

Elvis is back in the building and he has brought his son-in-law Michael Jackson with him and will be appearing nightly at 8:30 pm at the “Wind Theater” at 3765 Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas Nevada. George Thomas is the tribute artist for Elvis and Scorpio is the tribute artist for Michael Jackson and they are both outstanding in their performances of the King of Pop and the King of Rock. Opening night brought nothing but praise from all the people that attended and they could not believe it was the first performance because it was so perfect. It was a proud moment for everyone who was a part of this production.

TBA is producing the 2 Kings Show and the Choreographer Dante Sevin, has done an outstanding job with the dancers and the fabulous dancing in the production. I sat in on all the rehearsals and it was amazing to see the perfection right from the start. The backup dancers, the backup singers and the 5 piece band of Nathan Owen are professionals that bring class and beauty to the 2 Kings.

Scorpio sang the best of Michael Jacksons songs, Jam, Wanna Be Starting Somethin, Remember the Time, Smooth Criminal, Dangerous, Billie Jean, Beat It, Black or White, Thriller, Shake Your Body and Earth Song which is  a beautiful song and it ended with an Angel coming on stage and holding Michael Jackson. It brought tears to my eyes, it was so touching.

George Thomas had everyone standing on their feet with his high energy and captivating performance as he came out into the audience to include everyone there. George is charming and full of nonstop energy and we all loved him. The audience loved it when he brought a lady on stage to join him and she was a show on her own.

Dante Sevin, choreographer showed his professionalism as he worked with all the dancers with patience, love and care and it showed in the opening night performance.

Elvis’s songs brought back memories of the past as the dancers danced and George sang the favorites, Blue Suede Shoes, Don’ Be Cruel, Hound Dog, All Shook Up, Jail House Rock, CC Rider, Suspicious Minds, Can’t Help Falling In Love and Viva Las Vegas. The show ended with Michael coming on stage to sing Viva Las Vegas with Elvis.

The best part of all shows are when the entertainers meet the audience in the lobby for pictures and autographs and well-earned praises of the show.
