Ina Mohan organized the second Health, Healing and Happiness Seminar that was held on June 15-16, 2013 at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, with over 20 speakers covering topics from nutrition, spirituality, personal development and fitness.  There were food demos and a vendor’s market place with holistic vendors.  Ina Mohan was a certified chef before she became Founder and President of Belsandia.com

One of the food demonstrators, Chef Kenny Chye had three Chinese restaurants in San Diego when he learned he had high cholesterol and he changed to a vegetarian diet to improve his health and opened the Veggie House in Las Vegas. We all sampled Chef Chye’s food and it was delicious and flavorful. 

 

Another dynamic speaker was Vanessa Chamberlin who opened her heart on how to ignite your fire and love your life. Vanessa has created the Master Wellness System that encompasses the critical elements in a woman’s life. www.VanessaChamberlin.com

 

 

 

Barbara Mathison said that that health was her number one priority after reading the China Study. She is President of the Vegetarian Society of Utah Health Motivational Speaker. Barbara gave a presentation on “The Skinny and Fat on Gluten Sensitivity” and how to best care for your body, mind and spirit.

 

 

 

Brendan Brazier wrote the bestselling Thrive book series and formulator of the award winning line of plant based Vega nutritional products. Brendan is a former professional Ironman triathlete and two time Canadian 50 km Ultra Marathon Champion and is recognized as one of the world’s most foremost authorities on plant based nutrition.

 

A film Bethany’s Story the Power from within is an inspiring story of Bethany, who at 13 years old was paralyzed from reactions to medications and told she would never walk again. On her own, Bethany adopted a raw vegan plant based diet and within a short time she was out of the wheel chair and walking again. The Health Healing Happiness Seminar was inspirational and informative with great speakers. It was an educational weekend and fun for the mind, body and spirit.

The Amazing Comic Con will be held on June 14-16, 2013 at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Times: Fri 3-8pm, Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 10am-6pm and it is open to all ages. Stan Lee, the comic book king and creator of Marvel Comics and CEO will be there signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans. Spiderman, Ironman Thor, X-Men, The Hulk and The Fantastic Four are some of the characters he helped create.

 

This three day event will be jam packed with vendors and there will be a lot of buying, selling and trading of rare collectibles. There will be costume contests, video game arenas and entertainment.

 

 

 

 

It is a time for the fans and the celebrities to come together, have fun and sit in on informative panel discussions. There will be special costume contests with prizes given, face painters and free sketches for kids 10 and under by Mat Nastos.

Special guests were Humberto Ramos, artist for Amazing Spiderman and X-Men and Greg Capullo, fan favorite artist of DC 52 Batman Spawn and creator of The Creech. Long lines were formed at their tables for their autographs and pictures.

Other outstanding artists displaying their work at was Shelby Robertson and Troy Zured of Venomous Conceptz.

Stan Lee, the creator of the Marvel Universe, will be making a special one day appearance to take photographs with him and have him sign all licensed items and collectibles.

Jim Lee, known as the best comic book artist of all time, will be doing a live art drawing demo and a highlight to the convention.

Attracting a lot of attention was Jessica Nigri and the XX Girls, an American cosplayer and promotional model who won IGN’s 2012 contest to portray Starling in the Video Game Lollipop Chainsaw.

Mac King Show is Magical at Harrah’s Las Vegas

The Mac King Comedy Magic Show celebrated its 13^th Anniversary on May 11^th at Harrah’s to a packed house. As always it was a very funny, magical, family friendly show. Mac King is up close and personal and does many sleight of hand tricks right before your very eyes and you can’t figure out how he does them. Take for instance the money trick. A gentleman from the audience gives Mac a $100.00 bill and Mac burns it up and you know the routine, the money miraculously appears later on. www.mackingshow.com

 

I liked it when Mac King went into the audience and brought Lake Baker onto the stage. It was Lake’s 11th birthday and Lake was there celebrating with his parents, his brother and four of his best friends. Lake’s birthday present was being picked up in a stretch limo, having lunch at Serendipity and buying VIP tickets to the show. It was a dream come true for Lake to be on the stage with Mac and he was a star for a few minutes.

 

 

Mac King has mastered the ropes and the playing cards and there were plenty of fig newton’s during the entire performance. I loved how the gold fish and the hamsters are part of the magic show and no harm came to the animals. His cloak of invisibility was almost believable. I loved how the show had humor for the adults along with the children’s entertainment. I sat in the front row and laughed through the entire show. I highly recommend this as a family show.

The show has won many of the Best of Las Vegas Awards, Best Bargain Show, Best Magician, Favorite Magician, Favorite Male Las Vegan and Best Las Vegas Family Attraction to name a few. A party was held after the show and Christian Stuart, Harrah’s Regional Vice President and Assistant General Manager presented Mac King a proclamation from Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman naming May 11, 2013 Mac King 13^th Anniversary Day in Las Vegas. Mac Kings daughter Elizabeth presented him with 13 roses for his 13^th anniversary

 

Many of his friends, family, fans and celebrity pals were there to celebrate and share in the festivities and eat the fabulous goldfish cake.

Mac said he was thankful for all the years at Harrah’s and for all the great friends who support his comedy and the show.

Women of Distinction Awards Presented by NAWBO

The National Association of Women Business Owners 15th annual Women of Distinction Awards was held on May 3, 2013 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas NV to honor many amazing woman for their contribution, dedication and empowering all women through their accomplishments. www.nawbosnv.org 

NAWBO has over 10 million women owned businesses in the country and consists of women who share their knowledge and information through workshops, networking, mentoring and empowering women worldwide. WODA President Valerie Parker welcomed everyone and paid tribute to the 34 women finalists for their accomplishments and the impact they have made in people’s lives.

Paula Francis was the emcee for the awards luncheon and always does a great job of hosting the show. Paula is our local TV 8 News Anchor at KLAS TV and reports the daily news at 5:00pm 6:00pm and 11:00pm daily and has won as being the best TV Anchor in Las Vegas from 2000 to 2012. 

Women have always been a source of inspiration and it is always an honor and privilege to take the time to acknowledge them and to show their visions, as they are the true visionaries of the world.

Kimberly Gyuran-Miles won the Women of Distinction Award for Entrepreneur of the Year.  Kimberly is President of The Payroll Company with over 25 years of management experience with over 5000 clients nationwide. She was the 2011 Past President of NAWBO. Boss Lady is the new Reality T.V. Show that will debut in the fall and is the next adventure in her interesting wonderful life. Upon meeting her you will see the twinkle in her eyes, see a huge smile, get a firm hug, hear a sincere greeting and you will instantly know that you are meeting someone special, but you won’t know why, at the moment but you will know later on. That is how I felt when I first met Kimberly, but as I got to know her, I knew why. Kimberly is a special lady and behind every good woman is her man.

Congratulations to all the women who were nominated and to all the winners for their accomplishments for their services in our communities during the course of the year.

We continued the party afterwards at the Poppy Den at Tivoli Village in Summerlin with Chef Angelo Sosa.
